2018 Methode Champenoise Brut Rose'
Aged for 6 months in a blend of new and once-fill Tremeaux barrels (Pinot noir) and Nomblot concrete egg (Chardonnay) before blending, filtering and ultimately tirage bottling where the final blend lay on the lees for another four years before disgorging and dosage. The grape clusters were initially cooled, then hand-sorted into press for a gentle Champagne cycle to capture the essence and freshness of the fruit. The entire lot was fermented with 50% white wine yeast (VL1) & 50% red wine yeast (RA17) to compliment and preserve the purity of fruit. We blended a small percentage of Chardonnay from our Estate vineyard for added nuance, complexity, and depth.
TASTING NOTES
Very fine bubbles give way to a very distinctive and nuanced nose of brioche, white cherry fruit, lemon verbena and nutty aromas. Handsomely elegant, blending richness and complexity with bright texture and vibrant acidity. A crisp, clean entry expands to hints of orange peel, pear, and fresh ginger flavors. The sculpted acidity and depth of flavor lend tension and muscle to a powerful style, yet it balances nicely with a refined and compelling long, lacy mousse. Finishes dry while slightly uplifting.
