2023 Pinot Noir, Sorellini
TASTING NOTES
Appealing with its soft mouthfeel and bright underling acidity lines this beauty that shows a wonderful purity of red fruits. Ruby red, reveals beautiful, expressive aromas of wild strawberries and red cherries with freshly tilled salty soils, orange rind accentsplus hints of roses and spice notes. The palate is lush and sappy with a cherry leading, followed by an umami of sautéed wild mushrooms. A gorgeous silky mid-palate is rounded a touch of sweet vanilla leading to it’s long, savory finish. Complex, hedonistic and very delicious, enjoy this polished wine now or over the next decade. Age 1-7+ years

The 2023 growing season saw a normal spring and ended up warmer than average across the Willamette Valley. The reduction in production year over year was largely influenced by the extreme heat in early to mid-August where our decision to leave a bit more canopy benefited against any impacts for sunburn and allowed for slower ripening/flavor development. The season presented with little to no disease pressures. Our Sorellini iscrafted with a riper/fuller expression in mind – 100% Lachini Vineyards Pinot Noir from our Biodynamically®farmed Estate vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains. Of the final selected five-barrel blend(entirely Quintessence & Francois Frere), were 100% native yeast fermentations. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered to retain character and depth. Overall, the wine displays ripe, concentrated fruits, a broad mid-palate with terrific balance, remarkable finesse and length. The underlying structure, well integrated acidity with rounded tannins should allow for further development in the bottle and additional nuances over time. Drink it now or lay it down for another 5+ years.
A subtle play on the Italian word for 'sister' (la Sorella). Selected barrels from riper lots to reveal a more luscious, fruit forward Pinot noir as compared to its sibling - our Lachini Family Estate Pinot noir.
