7 Year Tawny Pinot Port
From our solera program, we’ve selected three barrels with a minimum of 7 years age (2009, 2010 & 2012 vintages) that blend warm, cool and temperate growing seasons. This dessert-style wine was crafted by using our ripest Pinot Noir lots from our Estate Vineyard. Fermentation was halted around 18 brix with the addition of an artisan made eau-de-vie from Clear Creek Distillery. It begs for some Roquefort cheese, chocolate truffles, crème brûlée, candied nuts or a fireside cigar.
TASTING NOTES: A blend of three vintages form our Solera barrel program dating back to 2009. Wonderfully aromatic, entering with a seductive nose of decadent cherries jubilee and a hint caramel & nut. Tawny-like in style, it is velvety smooth with a rich creamy texture. Ruby color, medium-bodied, with an understated sweet core of candied bright fruit and cassis. Finishes with a touch of exotic spices and modest tannins. Age 5-20 years+
This dessert-style wine was crafted by using our ripest Pinot Noir lots from our Estate Vineyard. We pick this sweet gem when we feel the berries are at their optimal ripest physiological state (translating to ‘taste’ is just right with their high-octane natural sugars) and hand sort to ensure only the most mature berries will age in the barrels. Fermentation was halted around 18 brix with the addition of an artisan made eau-de-vie from Clear Creek Distillery. It is cloyingly aromatic, velvety rich and smooth and will likely reveal even more tawny-like nut flavors over time – truly a remarkable wine that displays finesse on the mid-palate. If the past is any predictor, this wine will sell out fast; so don't wait until Valentine's Day to win your honey's heart! It begs for some Roquefort cheese, chocolate truffles, crème brûlée, candied nuts or a fireside cigar.
